About the Art

The crab is another powerfully symbolic animal – it's associated with emotion, unconventionality, adaptability, and liminal spaces. It inhabits the water's edge, at home in the place between water and earth.

The only thing I really knew when I started this piece was that it I wanted to convey the symbol of the crab. The background and landscape were an experiment in layers that ended up giving the liminal atmosphere I was looking for. This piece hangs in my own dining room, and it's one of my favorites I've done.

Fabric
- 100% Airlume combed ring-spun cotton (lightweight, breathable)

Care instructions
- Machine wash: cold (max 30C or 90F)
- Non-chlorine: bleach as needed
- Tumble dry: low heat
- Iron, steam or dry: medium heat
